After Bheem defeated Hidimb, he married his sister Hidimba and they had a son named Ghatotkach. Since then Hidimba is worshiped as Devi Hidimba especially in this region. According to the legend of Mahabharat , when Pandavs lost in battle of shatranj they had to live in exile for a period of 12 years plus 1 year in disguise aka Agyaatvas. According to common belief it is said that this temple was built by Pandavs. They were trying to build a “staircase to heaven” in this location, but they could not succeed to build the staircase. Because this temple remains underwater for most of the year, you can visit the temple on a boat. This temple is very close to another tourist place, Pong dam.
